Rituals to be done on Kethu grastha Chandra Grahanam(Lunar eclipse ) on 3-3-2026

 On March 3, as we celebrate Holi, the Moon will undergo a mystical transformation, turning a deep coppery red a rare "Blood Moon" visible across India

The total lunar eclipse on sundday, 3rd, march , 2026, will be visible across Asia, Western Australia, eastern Australia, and New Zealand. It will also be partially visible in Europe and Africa. The eclipse will not be visible from the Americas.  

In India:-

The  Madathu   Panchangam(drik)  says  

The grahana   sparsam  is at 3.25 pm   and  moksham is at 6.52 pm   . It says   the   Grahana Takes  place  in Pooram star  and stars  affected are

Bharani, makam, pooram, uthram and pooradam

However   Sri Rangam Panchangam(Vakhya Panchangam)  says and sparsam is at  3.20 pm and moksham  at  6.20 am  

Grahana   Tharpana 

 

 The Lunar eclipse Tharpana   has to be done   towards  the end of  Chandra Grahana(. Since the Grahana   ends   on  3-3-2026  dusk  , it should be done around 6.20 pm

The   sankalpa manthra   for this eclipse (for doing it in india  on 3-3-2026 Tuesday is

 

3-3-26 tuesaday  Chandra grahanam (early morning)

Viswavasu  nama samvathsare, utharayane , sisira rithou, kumbha  mase, Shukla pakshe, adhya Parnamyam  punya thidhou, bhauma vasara yukthayam, Porva phalguni  Nakshatra yukthayam, Shubhayoga, Shubha Karana evam guna viseshena, visishtayam asyam Pournamasyam  punya thidhou, somopa raga punyakale, darsa sradham, thilatharpana roopena adhya karishye.  (Pornami up to 5.09 pm  afterwards prathama, Poorva phalguni is up to 7.04 am

 

(Those  whose Nakshatra   the eclipse are affected , should write the following sloka in a palm leaf and tie it to their forehead. After the eclipse this palm leaf (if palm leaf not available on card board ) and it should be removed. Then they should give in charity one Ash gourd, coconut and coin to a Brahmin.


“Indro analo Yamo , riksho, varuno vayurevacham, Kubhera, eeso knandu Indu uparaga udhavyathaam mama”

 

For getting rid of the  problems caused  Individuals can also chant 

“Yo Sou  Vajra dharou Deva, nakshtraanaam   prabhurmatha, sahasra nayana Chandra  , graha peedaam Vyopahathu”

 

Sri Vaishnavas   chant the following stotra

 

Chandra antharyami   Sri  Anjaneya  preranayaa ,

Sri Anjana swami preethyartham  ,

CHandroparaga   peeda parihartham,

SAnaaga   Chandra bimba   dhanamaham karishye
