One of my greatest contributions to Brahmin community with blessings of Maha Periyava

It was ten years back   that I completed    the translation  of  the great book “Samksepa Dharma Sasthras” compiled as  per wishes of Maha  Periyava by  Manjakudi Venkatrama SAtrigal, with help of Sri E,S,Ramamurthy SAstrigal and Sri.S.M.Krishna Sarma .

      This book was pubished in 1985 and sold at the cost of 50 paise By Heritage India Educational trust  , Sanskrit  college, Mylapore Madras .Maha Periyava wanted it to be clearly mentioned in the book , that  since this book  should reach every Brahmin’s home, no copy right should be there.The second edition of the book   was published in 2007.

    It was in 2009   that my scholarly  and elderly friend Sri.P.P.Ramachandran(People call him PPR) wanted me  to translate in to English.I thought that it was  an order from Maha Periyava   and did it   to the best  of my  ability    and created  a web site for that.

    I do not know  among al the great scholars  why I was chosen by HIM  to do this job.The fact that no one else has done it   and that  it has become a reference book on rituals of all  Brahmins, goes to show  that “The blessings of Maha Periyava” is with me.

I have received a message  from Kanchi Mutt , that  the Grahana on 10th need not be observed

ஆஸ்திகர்கள் கவனத்திற்கு ஒரு அறிக்கை:

ஸ்வஸ்திஶ்ரீ நிகழும் விகாரி ௵ மார்கழி ௴ 26 ௳ திருவாதிரை நக்ஷத்ரம் கூடிய வெள்ளிக்கிழமை (2020-ஜன-10) அன்று சந்த்ர க்ரஹண அனுஷ்டானம் கிடையாது.

அன்று சந்த்ரன் பூமியின் மெல்லிய வெளி நிழலில் சுமார் 22:37 அளவில் நுழைந்து பின்னிரவு 02:43 அளவில் வெளியேறுகிறார். ஆனால் பூமியின் கறுமை மிகுந்த உள் நிழலை அவர் தொடவே இல்லை. ஆகவே சிறிது ப்ரகாச குறைவு ஏற்படலாமே தவிர பிம்ப க்ராஸம் (மூளி) ஏற்படாது.

கண்ணுக்கு தெரியக்கூடிய பிம்ப க்ராஸம் ஏற்பட்டால் தான் அனுஷ்டானம் என்பது சாஸ்த்ர நிர்ணயம். ஆகவே இதனை இன்றைய நவீன விஞ்ஞானப்படி எக்ளிப்ஸ் என்று சொல்லி க்ரஹணம் என்று மொழிபெயர்ப்பு செய்தாலும் சாஸ்த்ரப்படி க்ரஹண அனுஷ்டானம் கிடையாது என்று நாம் தெளிய வேண்டும்.

ஆகவே ஊடகங்கள் விஞ்ஞானப்படி அன்று க்ரஹணம் என்று அறிவித்தாலும் அது அனுஷ்டானத்திற்கு அர்ஹமல்ல என்று புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

Please  note that  According  to  Indian belief  the day  starts  with Sun  rise  and not  12  Midnight.  So the  Lunar eclipse  is on  10tth  January and on 11th  January  morning  .

The eclipse  is only partial

This   Lunar Eclipse would be visible n large parts of Australia, Asia, Africa and   Europe,. It would not be visible  in North America   as well as  South America  .I  am giving below   the time  of the eclipse  in  few  centres

The Lunar eclipse Tharpana   has to be done   towards  the end of  Chandra Grahana on 11-1-2020   . Since  it is deep at night  , it can be done  early morning of that day 

The   sankalpa manthra   for the Chandra  Grahana  THarpana  to be done on 1thth  late   at night  is

  Vikari nama samvathsare ,Dakshinayane   , Hemantha  rithou,  Dhanur mase , Shukla   pakshe, adhya Prathamayam     punya thidhou , manda  vasara yukthayam, Punarvasu  nakshatra yukthayam, shubhayoga, shubhaKarana evam guna viseshena, visishtayam asyam Prathamayam    punya thidhou, Somoparaga  punya kale , uparaga sradham , thilatharpana roopena adhya karishye

(Prathama is  from  0.52 up to   10.42 pM   and  Punarvasu   Nakshatra  is  from 10.1.2020 2.49 pm  to11.1.2020  1,30 pm) 

The following stars are affected  Thiruvadirai, Punarpoosam, Poosam, Visagam Poororattathi

(Those  whose Nakshatra   the eclipse are affected , should write the following sloka in a palm leaf /card board  and tie it to their forehead. After the eclipse this palm leaf (if palm leaf not available on card board ) and it should be removed. Then they should give in charity one Ash gourd, coconut and coin to a Brahmin chanting

“Indro analo Yamo , riksho, varuno vayurevacham, Kubhera, eeso knandu Indu uparaga udhavyathaam mama”

For getting rid of the  problems caused  Individuals  they can also chant 

“Yo Sou  Vajra dharou Deva, nakshtraanaam   prabhurmatha, sahasra nayana Chandra  , graha peedaam Vyopahathu”

Sri Vaishnavas   chant the following stotra

Chandra antharyami   Sri  Anjaneya  preranayaa ,

Sri Anjana swami preethyartham  ,

CHandroparaga   peeda parihartham,

SAnaaga   Chandra bimba   dhanamaham karishye
